Ernest Elephant came to Koala T Crafts as a Progressive Digi drawn by Jen Evers! What is a Progressive Digi, you ask? What IS a digi stamp?
1. favoring or advocating for progress, change or improvement
2. making progress towards better conditions
3. going forward or onward; proceeding
step by step
Digi Stamp [dij-ee]:
1. short for digital stamp
2. available in electronic form; readable and
manipulable by computer
Jen Evers draws a different digi stamp once a month and makes it available during that month only! The Progressive Digi Stamp Challenge is open to everyone. KTC members purchase their first months digi for $1.99. If it is colored and used in a project, downloaded into the KTC album by the 27th of that month, you will receive the next month's digi stamp FREE and so on. If at any time you should miss the deadline, you will have to pay for your first stamp again for the current month.
If you are Patron, you receive the digi stamp free each month! (You will find the information about becoming a Patron below in blue!)
Once the month is over, that stamp is retired.
To receive and use the stamp, it must be downloaded onto your computer. Use whatever program you have to change the size without altering the digi in any way. There is a special KTC member that has created a card for us and progressively, we will check it out!
Creating Ernest
Ernest Elephant arrived via email. It was downloaded into Microsoft Word so it could be printed. It was printed twice, once facing left, the other facing right.

Creating the Card Base
A piece of kraft 8 1/2¨x 11¨ cardstock was cut to measure 5 1/2¨x 11¨.

It was scored at 2 3/4¨ on the long side, flipped around and scored again at 2 3/4¨. When folded on the score lines, this would create a 5 1/2¨x 5 1/2¨ card that had two sides that would fold together in the front creating a door.
A white 5 1/2¨ square was cut to be placed on the inside of the card with an ATG (Advanced Tape Glider). It was left blank until a sentiment was decided upon.

Outside of the card, the flaps were to get fancy. Two papers were selected from the Aloha paper pack.

The first panels were cut at 2 3/4¨x 5 3/8¨ and attached to each side of the front. The second paper was cut into panels a quarter inch shorter at 2 1/2¨x 5 1/8¨ then centered upon the first panel with the ATG.
Coloring Ernest and Friend
So, there were two elephants to color! They both were colored the same way with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers. They were colored as follows:
-The bodies were colored in shades of grey, GG2 with GG3 shading the shadowed areas.
-The ears and cheeks were colored with pink, PP5 with BP1 shading them
-The eyes were colored green, AG5
-The water from the snout colored blue, TB3

Once they were colored they were fussy cut-out. (This means they were cut out on the line, usually using small scissors and only moving the paper to get into the tight areas.)
Assembling the Card
The elephants were then attached with the ATG, one on each side of the front. They were facing each other with their trunks able to interlock.
Next, a Recollection's die was used out of the matching Aloha set which also includes a flamingo, a pineapple and other parts of leaves. Several leaves were cut and tucked in behind and around the elephants. To make it look really like they were in the bushes, the leaves in the front were put on pop dots then put over the elephants.

After the leaves, a string of bling was added across the top. It went from one side to the others. A sentiment came to mind! Three "Family" words were cut, glued one on top of the other and placed above the left elephant. The stacked words gave the card dimension.
Just to ground the elephant and leaves, a piece of green glitter ribbon was added to the bottom of each front panel. Didn't it turn out cute?

when the card was closed, Ernest wrapped his trunk around his brother or sister (since they were family) again!
Didn't that card turn out cute? How clever it was to make the trunks interlock! Nice interactive card!!
